That’s it, I finally did it! My Tech Pack Template package has now launched! If you’ve been on my Instagram recently, you’ll have seen me waffling on informing you all about what it entails, how it works, how it will be a game-changer when getting your products made and just generally how delighted I am to bring you this toolkit.
I decided to create this package after many, many conversations with designers, fashion students and fashion entrepreneurs who, although they dearly wanted to do things the right way, just didn’t have the budget to hire a design professional and didn’t have the knowledge needed to have a go at winging it which meant their dreams of a fashion brand had come to a halt.
Now obviously I stand by what I have always said. That hiring a professional who knows exactly what they’re doing is ALWAYS money well spent and the most effective way to avoid costly mistakes. I have hired IT experts, sewists, bought courses, am part of the wonderful Independent Girls Collective membership programme and it has all been worth its weight in gold. HOWEVER, there are also things I have had to do myself when the budget just won’t stretch no matter how much moving around of the figures I did. If you can’t afford it, you can’t afford it and sometimes that’s the bottom line.
My goal for my business is to have a successful design, development and mentoring studio and continue to be hired as an expert in my field either as a hands-on creative, a technical designer or consultant for my years of knowledge within the industry. This is an obvious fact. But that’s only half of it. I also want to help all you designers, entrepreneurs, dreamers and doers get your foot in the door, build your collections and brands which is why I decided to tackle the problem head-on and create a toolkit that would be affordable to the majority of people.
This template package has everything you need to successfully create your industry-standard tech packs whilst the user manual gives you step by step guided instructions on how to fill it in and also extra information so you can understand exactly what needs to be included in a tech pack. The examples and dummy information aide clarity and there’s a bit more info that you may not have even thought about just in case 😉
This system will take a bit longer than getting someone else to worry about it for you, but I honestly think I have created something so self-explanatory that each time you use it, it’ll get quicker and easier to fill in until it becomes an automatism for you. You will also be learning so much in the process and that can only be agood thing.
The files have been created in excel so a basic knowledge is needed when filling them in. Tech support is not something I offer, and I think that’s best for everyone! They are very easy to navigate through and practice does make perfect.
